Introducing The Status Co.
A Quickbase campign that challenges the way work gets done
Problem
Quickbase was ramping up its presence at industry events, attending 20+ conferences per year, but the approach was too conventional—beautiful vendor booths focused solely on demand generation through product demos. Meanwhile, the company lacked a bold, creative strategy to build awareness at events. Traditional out-of-home (OOH) event advertising (airport/convention center takeovers) was cost-prohibitive, with single events costing $50K-$150K, while Quickbase’s total annual brand event budget was just $75K.
At the same time, leadership identified that Quickbase rarely lost deals to direct competitors. Instead, deals were lost to the status quo. Companies often chose to “make do” with outdated processes rather than adopt better solutions.
Solution: Introducing ‘The Status Co.’
Instead of spending big on traditional event awareness, Quickbase took a moonshot—a riskier but potentially high-impact idea. In just two weeks, we developed The Status Co., a fictional parody company representing the mindset that prevents companies from evolving.
Created a fully formed satirical brand: "Why scale when you can settle?"
Hired an improv actor to play "Justin," CEO of The Status Co.
Built a custom booth at SME’s Smart Manufacturing Experience, positioned next to Quickbase to create a seamless transition from the problem (Status Co.) to the solution (Quickbase). Also deployed at IMTS, the world’s largest manufacturing event.
Recorded hours of video content and created a robust library of social posts to compliment the event experience for those wanting to learn more.
Results
Booth Traffic Multiplier: Status Co. drove 70% of its traffic to Quickbase’s booth.
Lead Goals Exceeded:
IMTS: +4.5% above goal
SME (June): +60% above goal
